I Believe This is The Truth About "Toning"
How often have you said to yourself, “I wish I was little bit more toned?” or “I just work out so that I can get more toned?” What images have come to mind when you thought about your own physical excellence? Those images seem to be the motivating force behind our enthusiasm for going to the gym. The development of our motivation is significant in order to sustain our interest when making our bodies physically and mentally uncomfortable just for toning purposes. When someone we believe is in the physical shape we could only imagine for ourselves, understandably for most, it is really the aesthetics of physical fitness that capture our attention.
The word “tone” has become a part of mainstream gym vocabulary, yet, the definition of the word remains allusive to all who try to use it. The funny part of this is that the word is not actually used by anyone in the gym or ever used again by someone once they have entered this special little society. It seems that most agree that toning encompasses losing fat and gaining muscle definition and it is very important to be able to quantify this change. However, as soon as the first few lines start to appear, we often feel that we have reached our goal and begin to unconsciously back off, allowing the other influences of our lives to regain control. This unfortunately sets in motion the reversing of all the hard efforts put forth to that point, and thereby leads to the frustration of feeling like you have to start all over again. It is a cycle that many fall into, yet, there is a much more sustainable goal that encompasses the general characteristics of toning.
Firstly, stop thinking about your benefits in the context of just for toning. The hard work that it takes to achieve the goals that you set for yourself are nothing but undermined by the word. For this reason alone it should be released from your mind. Secondly, realize that the health benefits associated with frequent bouts of exercise are far more important then looking like the perfect beach body. Decide what is really important for you to achieve. Establish a timeline in which it could be done. This has to be attainable and realistically incorporated into your current lifestyle. Furthermore, you have to stick to your schedule because everything in life is done in a timely manner to achieve ultimate success.
When in doubt ask a fitness professional in your facility about the difference between physical activity, exercise, physical fitness and active-living. As well, question the difference in muscular endurance and muscular strength. Decide which one is more pertinent to your lifestyle and activity level. Remember that for which ever path that is chosen, the health benefits achieved are distinctly seen in the physical condition of your body inevitably. Even before you notice, those around you will already begin to appreciate your commitment, determination and motivation to look the way you do. From this point onward you will probably never use the word tone again and the way you view the condition of your body will never be in comparison to who you think you would like to see in the mirror. Instead, the love will only be for yourself and why not? You have always deserved it!
